XP Setup hangs halfway through...
Hello,
I have a problem setting up windows that I cannot figure out. I have connected everything together (specs follow message), the computer boots up to the Foxconn boot screen, I choose ‘Esc’ and follow instructions to boot from disc (I tried both legal and copied versions – same results) and the blue Windows setup screen follows as per usual. To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER I do, and the computer just hangs – on a blue screen telling me “Please wait…” (same if I press R for recovery console – but with a “Examining disk configuration). What gives? I can’t figure this out at all! In the BIOS setup – I can see all the correct hardware – the only potential problems I can see (I am no expert!) are the assigned IDE channels: No IDE channels 0,1 IDE channel 2 Master - Plextor DVD-R IDE channel 3 Master – Hitachi HDD I have cleared the CMOS, swapped SATA cables, swapped HDDs, checked the HDD (single partitioned and formatted), swapped RAM, checked all the connection, etc….all parts are new except for the VGA card. What should I do next? Ideas? System: Foxconn 45GMX Motherboard Hitachi 160GB SATA HDD Plextor DVD-R PX716 2x 2GB DDR – 667 5300 ASUS 7800GT 256MB VGA Thanks for any input, |
