Re: booting problem
Let me see if I can decipher this message.
Before: Only 300GB drive. No other drives. Boots fine. After: 40GB drive proposed boot drive, 300GB drive proposed data drive. If both set to CS, 300GB boots. If 40GB Master and 300GB Slave, the 300GB drive does not appear? - this does not make sense. Reason: The boot order in BIOS is likely to be incorrect. Suggestion: This arrangement is a downgrade. The 40GB drive will be slower than your 300GB drive, so it won't gain you anything. Exactly why do you want to do this? Are you out of space on the 300GB drive? |

Re: booting problem
What are the exact model numbers of these drives?
My suggestion would be to keep 300GB as Master due to its newer controller. You can still set the BIOS boot order to boot from the 40GB Slave. This appears to be a jumpers set incorrectly problem. If both were set to CS, both will appear in BIOS, right? In that case, keep them that way and set your 40GB drive as the boot drive in BIOS. |
