making a bootable external hard drive
I need to back up my entire computer and was told to use carbon copy cloner to do it. I have the program ready to go but in order to make it work I have to make my external hard drive (new) bootable and I don't know how to do that. Does anyone know a quick and easy way to do this?

Re: making a bootable external hard drive
That feature depends entirely on your computer's BIOS.
Not all computers will function with a USB external disk as the boot device. Additionally, this can bring complications with Windows boot loader (boot.ini). If you use my procedure, it will clone the drive and keep it bootable as if nothing changed. |

Re: making a bootable external hard drive
Carbon copy cloner should do the work.
Or try XXClone. How to: http://www.techsupportforum.com/cont...ticles/47.html Officially you cannot boot Windows from a USB device. But... Have a look at this: Booting From USB Devices |
