backing up files

I just bought a 500 gb simple tech external harddrive. i was wondering if there was a way to back up everything... like all my music, videos etc but also all my programs and settings. so if my comp crashed i could just totally restore everything to this back up.

Re: backing up files

you can use xp backup. Not on a xp computer right now so my location may be off but first check your control panel and see if you have backup here or check start - all programs - accessories - system tools.

If you cannot find it in either location just do windows help or check the following link
