Re: data transfer from C: to D: how do i do???

Just cut and paste, I would copy first make sure everything is good,
then delete the folders on the c drive. If you are trying to transfer
working programs, you cant. They already have a registry entry from
the install of the program.
If you have music, I would go to d drive create a folder, call it music.
Then transfer over.
Same thing with pictures, create a folder called picutures, transfer over.
But say you have a game running on your c drive, you cant just move
that whole thing over, wont work, registry entries as mentioned before.
Does xp see the new hdd? You may have to go into disk management
and format/allocate the drive before it is useable....

Re: data transfer from C: to D: how do i do???

If you want to move everything in your My Documents folder . . Right click on the My Documents icon and select Properties . . click the Move in the next panel and browse to the location you want to move it to . .

when it asks if you want to transfer the data, click yes . . it will do it for you and from then on, everything that naturally goes to My Documents, will go there, and programs that look to My Documents for data, will look there
