[SOLVED] External Hard Drive problem! help

Hi,
I recently purchased a Simple Tech External Hard Drive(500 GB). It was preformatted. So, I deleted the existing partition and created 3 new partitions. My third partition had around 134 GB free space. I had used 119 GB on my first backup. Once it was done, I tried to add another 2.5 gigs of files to this third partition. For some reason, it hangs up. It just keeps saying "preparing shadow copy for backup" and stays that way for atleast 10 mins. Please help me to get around this.

Thanks,
Bavya

Re: External Hard Drive problem! help

Welcome to TSF.

What program are you using? Nero?
Try a simple copy/paste backup instead.

Re: External Hard Drive problem! help

Thank you. :-)
I am using ArcSoft's Total Media Backup and Recovery utility that came with the external hard drive.
Anyway, the simple copy/paste backup as you suggested, worked fine. Thank you very much.
