Normal operating temperature for HDD?
Hey guys, I'm pretty noob when it comes to computer hardwares. I recently installed a new Power Supply and a Graphic Card. I had to move my HDD (WDC WD2500js-75ncb3) closer to the PSU because the SATA connector it came with was too short... Anyway, would you say my HDD operating around 48ish Celsius is something to worry about? What's the normal operating temperature for a HDD?
Just to throw this one out there, anyone know a safe way to maybe "elongate" the SATA connector? |

Re: Normal operating temperature for HDD?
Operating Temperature and Humidity
Temperature 5°C to 55°C (41°F to 131°F) Humidity 5-95% RH non-condensing Thermal Gradient 20°C/hour (maximum) You are 7 degrees off maximum temperature. I suggest supplemental cooling. Heat is what kills the drives the quickest, other than dirty power. The cooler the drive, the happier it feels. You can purchase a power supply extender cable at the usual suspects, such as Newegg and Frys. |
