Moving a percentage of D drive back to C drive

Hi - had a friend organise a new internal hard drive (D), but must have put so many Mb's in it that there is not very much left in C drive....how can I put some of the D Mb's back into C drive?

Not a computer expert, so any help would be appreciated.

Re: Moving a percentage of D drive back to C drive

Welcome to TSF.

Did he install a new, second hard drive - or split the existing in two partitions?

Please post a screenshot of Disk management. (Right click "My computer" > choose "Manage" > Disk Management)

How to post a screenshot.

Re: Moving a percentage of D drive back to C drive

Thanks.
Yes, the C: partition is a bit too small.
Expanding C: can't be done in XP's disk management - you'd need a program like Partition Magic or Parted Magic.
In those programs you should first "shrink" the D: partition, then expand the C: partition into the created free space.

Perhaps it's easier to move some documents from C: to D:???
Also - move the page file to D:. How to move the page file.
Use CleanUp to get rid of "rubbish" - please read the instructions carefully.

If you're sure XP is working like you want it to - then you can delete the contents in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
