External LaCie Hard Drive

I have tried to plug and play the External LaCie Hard Drive into a USB working connection. In the devise manager it shows that it is functioning ok.

The icon on the right hand corner of my desktop shows up as well, when I plug it in the USB. It also shows in the storage area of computer management as healthy and active.

The drive does not show up in my computer and I cannot save anything to it. When I try to format it a message shows up reading the operation did not complete because the partition or volume is not enabled. To enable the partition or volume, restart the computer. When I restart the computer I still get the same message.

I have a Windows XP SP3 operating system. I know the hard drive works I tried it on a Vista operating system. The USB port is working I plug my digital camera and a mouse into it. Can someone out there help me?

Thanks!

Re: External LaCie Hard Drive

Are you comfortable editting the registry?

Re: External LaCie Hard Drive

No I have never edited a registry. Can you give me some advice as to how to do it? I am at my wits end. Thanks for your suggestions so far.
