Toshiba hard disk
I recently bought a Toshiba hard drive with 500gb.
I always remove the drive safe and I haven't done anything weird with the drive, like accidently dropping it. The problem is, that everytime I start the drive, de drive makes a strange ticking noise. The light on the front of the drive goes on and off on that sound. Even worse, the drive is not recognized by my PC and laptop! It just doesn't appear in Windows. (Both Vista and XP) Please help me! |

I could ask a lot of questions about the drive, but typically, any clicking sound is the head positioner trying to find a track.
If it's new, there's a good possibility that it was damaged before you got it. I second the comment "it sounds like RMA time". That means return it for a replacement. Good Luck, The Shadow ![]()

Re: Toshiba hard disk
Hey mate and welcome to TSF,
If you have warranty on it then I could suggest you to take it to the store where you bought it and look for replacement... About data on HDD, if it is physically damaged [electronic or mechanical damage] then you must find skillful people who can get your data back because if OS does not see your HDD then you wont be able to get data back with some software programs... But usually these operations could cost you quite a fortune [it depends how important your files are]...
