hard drive not seen when installing windows xp
I have been given a second hand pc and the hard drive has been wiped. I can only assume it has been formatted.
When trying to install windows xp from the CD, I get the Blue Screen Of Death saying that it can't detect the hard drive. I've tried connecting the hard drive to another computer as the slave drive, and the computer won't boot up. I know that with windows 98 the file structure can be changed when defragmenting, thought maybe this was the smame deal, but can't get into the drive!! All suggests welcome |

Hey mate and welcome to TSF,
What make/model is your Hard Disk Drive??? Visit manufacturers Web Site and download testing tools... Test your HDD for possible bad sectors... You said you second hand that PC... Well, how old is it??? Better to post full system specs... report back please...
