Hitachi SATA HDD

Just bought a Hitachi Deskstar SATA 500 GB HDD
Model No HDP725050GLA360 which is SATA 3Gb and I want to drop it to SATA 1.5Gb
I downloaded the software file Ftool-ver210.exe from the Hitachi site.
When I start the computer using the floppy made from this file the bios sees the drive and all others I have but when the Ftool program opens there is only one PSATA drive showing no sign of any other drives at all

Don't know if anyone can help.
Motherboard is not SATA 3.0Gb compliant only SATA 1.5Gb

Welcome to TSF.

Use a jumper to "force" the drive to run in 1.5Gb mode.
The Hitachi website is unavailable at the moment, so I can't find the jumper settings for your drive, but there should be instructions printed on the drive.

There are no jumpers on this drive it is supposed to be a software adjustment but I can't get it to work.

In the manual there's a jumper block that can only have one function (AFAIK) - to make the drive run in SATA I mode.
