Hard drive changing
I have 2 computers, one a P3 533MHz (very slow) and another P4 2.0+ over. So i plan to take the HDD from the P3 and shove it into the P4 to take advantage of the speed and also skip the need to install everything all over again
I know how to plug it in and out but just that is there any settings or configuration i need to know after i plugged in another hard drive... Thanks

If you're intending it to boot the computer, and you're using Windows XP, that HD will NEVER boot up in another computer.
You must re-install windows to ever get it to boot in another PC. That's just a part of Microsoft's Security and licensing features. Unless, the two motherboards are exactly alike. Then, it might work. You can however, move a windows 98 HD from one PC to another with little or no problem. Good Luck, Shadow

Re: Hard drive changing

Re: Hard drive changing
If you use Sys Prep and both have like XP on them, then some times you can make that work.
Sys Prep The other possibility is you can do a repair install. However, this entails reinstalling the chiopset drivers and SP2. Of course, the downside to all of this is that unless you have a retail version of XP, then as mentioned, MIcrosoft will not permit you to do this. If it is an OEM, then you simply can not do that.
