New hdd results in sluggish start up
Basically the title says it all.
I got a wild streak in me tonight and took my 80gb hdd from my old comp that crapped out on me and wont start and stuck it in my new one. Normally I'm too much of a pansy to open my computer touch anything but I really needed the extra space. Anyway after I saw that the hard drive didn't fit in the hard drive slot near my main I gave up for a few days until I learn that about sata and ide differences or whatever. So manned up and stuck the old hdd into my empty floppy disk slot and shoved a ide cable into the back of it. After a few "dirty drive checks" I wasn't able to access my documents and said the hell with it and formatted it. So it seems to work ok but my start up takes forever to load it seems like. There is a possibility that its all in my head since before I ignored problems and now I am activly searching for it them to see if I did it right. Assuming it is slow how could I boost it up. I'm sure upping my ram from 1gb would help but I would have to grow another set of balls for that. I dont want to break my baby. |
