chkdsk /R = THE VOLUME APPEARS TO CONTAIN ONE OR MORE UNRECOVERABLE PROBLEMS
I have a machine running Win XP Pro and it won't boot up into normal mode or safe mode. Each time it tries to boot into Windows, the following error message pops up ....
'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or is corrupt: \Windows\System32\Config\System' Booted the machine off the original WinXP CD, selected 'R' to repair, and ran CHKDSK /R, that only produced another "re-encouraging" error: 'The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems' Can anyone suggest an excellent 3rd party repair utility package that would hopefully repair this drive? I am not expecting to use this utility as a permanent fix, just hoping to get this machine back up and running long enough until I can get another machine built to put in its place. Any comments and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Thanks... |
