External Hard Drive
I bought a 360GB External Hard Drive and it got accidently dropped, but it still turns on but instead of a green light I get a red light. The External Hard Drive does not make any noises, just doesn't register on my computer.
So my question is can I fix my External Hard Drive?

Re: External Hard Drive
There is no way of knowing, you may want to call or contact the manufacturer. If it's in an enclosed case you may have jarred something lose common to the interface card. You may also be able to open the case, but by doing so, you most probable will void the warranty. With that being said, Have a good day.

Re: External Hard Drive
Donk is right, if you have a new external drive and you decide to open it, you will likely void the warranty on the product. There should be a small sticker somewhere stating that the warranty will void if the HD is opened.
I also recommend calling the manufacturer and troubleshooting the product with them. |

Re: External Hard Drive
Course if it was dropped any data on it you want retrieved will cost aprox $500 on up. IMHO if the drive spins open the case hook the drive as a slave check if you can view your data you probably retrieve the data yourself. you can buy external case way cheaper than $500.00.. added side note if you send it in RMA and the manufacture notices the unit was dropped probably will void the warrenty anyway.
