Seagate Barracuda Wont' be Detected

I have been trying to install a Seagate Barracuda st3200820A 200GB drive with no success. I want to use it as a backup/extra space drive.
It is connected to the cable in the slave position behind my DVD drive.
I have a SATA drive as c: where all the apps and OS are.
It is detected in Device Manager but won't appear in My Computer under Hard Drives. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Vince,

First of all, for better operation, make the Hard Drive with jumpers set to master and the cdrom set to slave. Put the master on the end of the ribbon cable and the slave in the middle of the ribbon cable. Third issue, make sure you are using an 80 connector cable and not one of the old 40 connector cables. You must partition and format this drive for it to work properly. If you can't accomplish this through windows, then download and run the Seatools utility from Seagate. Free program and it works.

Have you tried opening the Start, right clicking My Computer, selecting Manage, Then disk management, then finding the drive there after it populates the list, and selecting Format. If not, give that a go and see what happens.
