WD 500gb Power Problems

Hey There

I'm having problems with my external hard drive, problems being those of actually trying to get it running. as when I have connected it all up and switch it on at the socket, the power active light on the transformer only goes active for a second, and fails to keep active when the conntion is in the hard drive, where as when the power cable is not plugged in to the hardrive, the light works with out and disfunction.

Can Any One Help Me?

Ps. i have sent this to WD but no reply...

Regards Jamie

Re: WD 500gb Power Problems

If your saying it works ok without the external power supply, but when you hook up the external power supply it does not work, I would say the power supply is defective.

Re: WD 500gb Power Problems

ok heres it...

the plug for the power is in the socket so that connects to the transformer
then it connects to the hard drive but when i have the transformer connected to the hard drive it does not work and the light on the transformer is active for a second and then turns off.

but when i have the transformer not connected to the hard drive the light on it works and stays active.
