Toshiba hard drive failure.

Hello there, i was on my Travelmate 530 acer laptop yesterday when it decided to go very slow, after a half hour i turned it off and then tried to turn it on again.
BUT i got a message-:Smart Failure predictedon hard disk 0: TOSHIBA MK3021GAS-(PM)

Warning immediately back up your data and replacyour hard disk drive.
Failue may be imminent.

Im running windows xp, i do not have alot of stuff loaded on as i only use it for minor internet use and footbal manjargon games.

What do i do?

Hey mate,
Visit manufacturers web site and download testing tools and test your HDD for possible bad sectors... You might have some because this error message indicates that your hard disk is close to dead... But if HDD has few bad sectors, you can manage to isolate them not to use bad sectors...
To backup your files, take out HDD and plug it to some friends PC and backup your data...

Ok, but i really want to just change it and start a fresh, i have no data that i want o back up.

Are they easy to take out?

Not to worry, i have , managed to track one down for £12, but might get one with more capacity.

Also managed to find the Hdd and take it out.
