Hard Drive in freezer...any luck?
Has anyone tried putting a defective hard drive in the freezer, then installing it as a slave drive to retrieve data from it? I've read several articles that explains how it sometimes works long enough to get the data off of it.
Just curious if this is something worth trying. Dave |

Re: Hard Drive in freezer...any luck?
With older drives, that can work a small percentage of the time. Some of the newer drives have technology that limits the effectiveness of that. Might be worth a try. What you do is put it in a platic bag to prevent moisure, leave it in there for about twenty or thirty minutes.....take it out, install it as a slave and work quickly.

I've tried it three times . . worked once . . but it can't hurt as long as you keep moinsture out.
