[SOLVED] Changing Hard Drive Letter Designation ???
I have just replaced a SATA hard drive that crashed. I booted with the original XP Pro cd and installed . Somehow, the setup named the hd with letter "I" I want to change it back to C. I don't remember it ever asking me what letter to use. Is there a way to change it without reloading XP? I went to disk management, but it wouldn't let me change it because it is the boot drive. Thanks

Re: Changing Hard Drive Letter Designation ???
Hi
![]() There must have been 6 other drives/partitions connected (not counting CD/DVD/floppy) when you installed XP. It's not a good idea to change the OS drive letter - shortcuts, registry entries etc may/will point in the wrong direction. Please post a screenshot of Disk management to give us an idea of what drives C-H are. How to post a screenshot. |
