Whats the difference between IDE and ATA?
Does it matter which one you put in a laptop? are they compatible with each other? another quick question. do you need RAM to boot to BIOS cause this one computer i have is completely stripped of its HD, RAM, and CD-ROM and when i turn it on it shows me some weird graphic showing me to put in some floppy disc and to press F1. and then the number I9990305 can anyone tell me what that is. the computer is an IBM thinkpad 600E. idk what the hell to do. Quote:
Yes you need RAM to boot a computer. What to do? 1) Install some RAM so the computer can boot up 2) Install a hard drive so you can load an operating system 3) Install a CD-ROM drive so you can put the operating system disk into something. 4) Install the operating system 5) Install the Thinkpad's drivers such as: graphics chipset driver, audio chipset driver, touchpad driver, Ethernet controller driver. Without any of these items installed, your laptop is as good as dead in the water.
