Hi, I have removed the HD from my old computer, connected it as a slave in my new computer, but I cannot access needed files in the ordinary way (for example, Word and Excel files don't seem to be available in the 'My Document' list. Thanks, Cary

Re: Slave HD connected, cannot access files
If you can get into the drive at all, then you just have to find where the files are.
All the files will be accessible.

Quote:
Open up My Computer and see if the new computer "sees" the slave hard drive you installed. On that slave drive icon, right click and open up "Explore" Find the path on that drive that says, "My Computer" Expand that path to show, "Administrator's Documents" Expand that path to show the subfolders where you stored your data.
