combining 2 Raptors and 1 seagate
I just bought 2 raptors .I have been using 2seagate 500G in a 0 striped raid config. Can I set up the 2 raptors o striped and use one of the seagates for back up.. I,m using a 780sli board. I'm trying to keep the little bit better read write performance however I still woud like to be able to back up my system on a seperate HD for saftey.. Will I be loosing any perfomance by adding the slower seagates? All three have a 16mb cache, if that makes any diferance or helps. I read something about raid level three striped with parity is this one of my options and is it ok with the one diferant type HD..Any sugestions .I lost my system twice because of one of the seagates was bad and that caused me unreplaceable loss. I am trying not to loose again. I liked the performance of raid o striped ..Any directions would be apreciated MY whole system doesnt take up one of the raptors Aprox 100 gs worth of crap at this point and I don't forsee me ever using much more..Performance on this machine is priority,If there is a way I can utilize the seagate far backup, great, if not ,so be it Sugdestions???

Re: combining 2 Raptors and 1 seagate
You won't lose performance with the backup drive added, as long as it's not in the RAID loop.
(since you'll be doing the backup manually)
