How do I switch my hard drive?

I'm pretty sure that's what needs to happen. The computer won't go anywhere, if it does it loads for hours. I tried loading ubuntu from a disk, but it did the same thing. If I took a harddrive from an old computer, could I put it in the one that needs it? And then I'll need to know how to do that.

Re: How do I switch my hard drive?

Re: How do I switch my hard drive?

Would they most likely match? I'm not near the other computer, so I can't now.

Re: How do I switch my hard drive?

Do those red ones usually have a lot of different cords showing? (instead of one)

From the plug, it looks like it had both.

Re: How do I switch my hard drive?

Those are the data cables . . the power cables will be separate.
