gaining access to Old Hard Drive by usb

I just purchased a new dell with vista because mt other one crashed. Video board problem.

I took the drive out and hooked it up to my new computers usb using an adapter. my new computer reconized it, reading the root directory right away. When i click on documents and setting to gain access to my name. user, Kevin, to open and view the file it vistia gives me a message "you dont currenly have permission to gain access to this file." What is the issue here? can someone please help me.

Hi Kevin,

What this means is that when you set up the user profile on your old PC, you set it up as Private for your docs, etc. You can re-take ownership of those folders and re-gain access.

Read this link and use Option 2, about 1/3 of the way down the page on your external drive's Docs & Settings folder.
