Re: Windows Xp wont recognize Hard drive

How do you have it set up? Explain what you have on the same ribbon cable, how you have the jumpers set, and where you have located the drive on the ribbon cable (end or middle connector)?

Re: Windows Xp wont recognize Hard drive

Make sure you have the boot order set to:

CDRom - 1st
Floppy - 2nd
Hard Drive - 3rd

Also, under the boot area, scroll down to the hard drive area and make sure the hard drive you are trying to load on is listed FIRST.

Don't forget for XP and Sata, you must download the Sata drivers on a floppy and have them ready for the F6 prompt.

Do you have Sata set as IDE in the Bios?

Re: Windows Xp wont recognize Hard drive

Some are different in what they say and how they deal with this issue. Here is a generalization of what you might find.

Enter the bios
Advanced area or Intergrated Peripherals area
"Sata Controller mode" set this to "IDE mode"

It would help us to deal with some of these issues if you would list your specs.

Re: [SOLVED] Windows Xp wont recognize Hard drive

Hey, glad you have it up and running. At times, I wish they would have everything standard so things were easier to explain, but they don't. Anyhow, don't be a stranger on here, stick around and enjoy the forum.
