Freeze when working with external drives
Ever since SP3 was released, I have problems with external drives (copying files to or from them, deleting files from them, etc.). Whenever I do one of those tasks, the computer will inevitably freeze during the operation. This didn't happen in SP2, but did happen while using one of the SP3 betas. I'm pretty sure this is an SP3 problem because SP2 worked fine, and I slipstreamed SP3 into an install disc and performed a fresh install - same thing happens. Booting of an Ubuntu Live CD allows me to copy files to my heart's desire. Anyone else have this problem or know what to do? All drivers are the latest, I also tried uninstalling the NVIDIA IDE driver which was known to cause problems, still didn't solve it.

Re: Freeze when working with external drives
There seems to be so many problems with SP3 right now. I'm holding off installing it because of that.
Are the drives USB? Does the problem still happen if you unplug one of them?

Re: Freeze when working with external drives
Yes, the drives are USB. I can use the computer normally if the drives aren't plugged in, but once I do plug one in and start copying to it (or whatever) it crashes and I have to hit the reset button.
You know, I installed Vista on my computer without a product key just to see if it would work...it does. Hmm, maybe that's their plan! Not that I would object, I ran the Vista betas on this computer and they worked great and I loved them.
