External Hard Drive Disappeared
I'm using a Maxtor 6y160p0 external hard drive. when i open "my computer" the drive (designated as "j") is no longer there. the device still appears in the device manager, but, as i said, not under "my computer". any thoughts, suggestions?

In the Control Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Mgmt/Disk Mgmt....
Check for the device there. Possible you need to assign it a new/different drive letter.

i went to disk management and the maxtor doesn't appear on that list. only the c drive is present. there are three removable disk drives listed (designated "no media"). am i missing something? thasnks, jack |

Hmmmmm....next, I gues I'd uninstall it from the Device Mgr, reboot and try to re-install.
Possible it's gone bad?
