well even the diagnostic tools are not even picking up the drive. plus my drive managment window now keeps timing out

ive been looking to see if the MB is sata 1 and the drive sata 2, but it seems the board is sata 2 as well as the drive. could it be because i've got 2 HD's and 2 optical drives as well??? do i update the bios from 0703 to 1002???

Are the optical drives Sata or IDE?

the optical drives are ide

Re: sata drive not in bios

What brand and model is the Sata hard drive?
Did you run the drive diagnostics by booting them or through windows?
Try putting the IDE hard drive on the IDE primary cable and only 1 optical drive on the secondary controller. Boot to windows to see if it works any better.
also what are the specs on your power supply?

Re: sata drive not in bios

Can you burn them to a cd unhook the IDE hard drive and run them?

Also did you follow these instructions on the drive? http://www.wdc.com/en/library/sata/2...df?wdc_lang=en
