[SOLVED] Need help with Hitachi Deskstar® 7K80 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive
I need help with a Hitachi Deskstar® 7K80 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive please. The problem: I had an old computer and it crashed, a severe motheboard issue, it started sparking, etc. So I've gotten another computer it is a Emachines W3644 the hard drive in it is a Hitachi Desktar HDS721616PLA380 and the capacity is 160 GB. I want the data off the old 7K80 hard drive onto the new one, and I want them hooked up into the same tower, at the same time. So what would I need to set the jumpers to? Thanks for all your help
![]() Here's a picture of the first mentioned hard drive (The Hitachi Deskstar® 7K80 80 GB ATA-100) Thanks again for your help! (= Last edited by thatoneguyyep101; 05-24-2008 at 10:18 PM. |

Re: Need help with Hitachi Deskstar® 7K80 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive
Welcome to TSF.
![]() The HDD in the picture looks like a SATA drive, not an IDE. If it's an ATA-100 - hook it up to the IDE connector with an 80-wire ribbon cable. If the drive is alone on the cable you don't have to worry about jumpers. Last edited by Deleted090308; 06-01-2008 at 04:37 AM. |

Re: Need help with Hitachi Deskstar® 7K80 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive
Thanks for welcoming me eneles! The hard drive now works, I didn't have to use jumpers, I wasted all that time looking through web pages on how they need to be set, and I didn't even need then, thanks so much! (=
