smart failure predicted

hi,

i AM receiving this message upon start up. The message says
"Smart failure predicted on Hard Disk 0. WDC WD1200UE-22KVT0.
I am using acer travelmate 3260 laptop for only 1 year and 3 months.

You need to back up all data immediately, because this message is as a rule very accurate and your drive is going to die very quickly. Then, get another hard drive a pitch this one. Time is very important when you get that message, the end is very near for that drive.

Normally with is error, you can not save the hard drive. Download and run the manufacturer's utility and see what it says. It might give you a clue to what is going on with that drive, but I am betting it is gone. That failure notice is so accurate that if it says it is failing, you can about take that to the bank. Before you do anything, (even try the utility), don't use the drive until you back up your info.
