Raid 0
I am building a new computer mostly for gaming. I am thinking of setting
up RAID 0 with two 250GB HDD. I know that RAID 0 increases performance such as read/write speed but lacks in reliability. My question is, is using RAID 0 just as reliable as just using one hard drive(not RAID at all) or is it riskier some how because the data is spread throughout 2 different hard drive? Thanks in advance for any replies. |

Re: Raid 0
The risk is more because you have two drives that could fail and wipe out all your data instead of one.
Why not use a smaller FAST drive 10,000 rpm like a Raptor and use the two 250's as storage in raid 1 that way your data is backed up automatically

Re: Raid 0
Have a look at my system, listed on the left underneath my Tiger avatar.
I use the 74gig Raptor for my Operating system, I then use the two 250 Gigs to store Data, music etc they are set up as raid1 which means if one craps out my data is safely stored on the other.
