[SOLVED] Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
Does anyone know how to swap the originally assigned drive letters for the Hard Drive. I want to swap their letters C to D, D to C.
This was not an accidental swap after crash etc. This support page was not appropriate: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q223188 as it refers to accidental swap. bit of a novice to tell the truth.

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
Hi
![]() Where's Windows installed? C or D? It's possible to change the Windows drive letter, but not something I'd do (you risk ending up with erroneous drive paths in the Windows installation). Please post a screenshot of Disk management. How to post a screenshot. |

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
in disk management I trid to expand "C" drive but was unable to.
Windows is in "C" but the partition sizes are wrong. This computer setup is only 2 days old, mabye I will take it back to the store and have them reload vista and create partitions from scratch, but I won't learn as much. I have the original Vista disk and the striker2 and nvidia disks too. |

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
hey, check that image of 'disk management' again, I have updated it.
In disk management I was able to shrink the D drive but was unable to expand the C drive into that created space. |

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
everything is okay, but I want the C drive to be larger as it is the default for downloaded applications etc.

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
Indeed.
But the C: drive is supposed to be the larger drive in normal cases, right. I feel the guys who built this unit for me slipped on that issue. Thanks for the help.

Did find something useful but you have to pay for it! 50 U.S.D
free 15 day trial but just demo, does not work. Works for Vista: Acronis disk director suite |

You can use Parted Magic to resize the partitions.

Re: Switch original assigned drive letters C/D. (how?)
I ended up downloading 'Acronis disk director suite ver 10.0' in the early hours.
Took a couple of activation keys and re-downloads but when that was done the software worked with great effect and I had resolved my drive size issues in minutes.
