Thumbs Down WD500Gb (Another Problem)

I bought this drive for backups... i have been copying small critical files over now and again, but now i need to make a full system backup from c:\

however.. it wont let me copy large files, usually over 1Gb... is this because the file format is in FAT32??

(it says there is not enough room on this drive, please run disk cleanup)

Out of the 500gb i have 460Gb free!!!

Saying that I have another external (120gb) which is also FAT32, and that lets me copy files over 4gb from c:\

Could somebody please advise me on wheter this is a problem with the WD external , or something to do with FAT32 and large files?

thanks in advance.
Kieran

Re: WD500Gb (Another Problem)

Hi

It's the file system - FAT32 can't store files larger than 3.99 GB.

Re: WD500Gb (Another Problem)

No, you can use it with other Windows and Linux computers + Mac if you use a program that can read NTFS.

Why not split it in two partitions - 1 NTFS and 1 FAT32.
