PC Keeps on freezing on Win XP load up.

Hi Gang, I fitted a new HD to my puter last week , now on loading into XP home it freezes. The little blue lines go for a while then it locks. When I reset and reboot a few times it eventually goes in. Weird eh???

Any ideas anyone out there. ??

It is and ECS MB and a Toshiba HD.

Hi

Run chkdsk:
Right click the drive in "My computer" >> Properties >> Tools >> Check now. Tick both options and click "Start":

What power supply and video card do you have?

Hi Eneles, thanks for coming back to me , the power supply is very old say over 6 years , so it could be that. Chkdsk doesnt come up with anything and the videocard is fairly new.
Perhaps I should change the PS.??

Yes, it sounds like that.

There's a sticker on the PSU inside the case.

What else is in the computer?
If you don't know:
Download the " TSFdemo1" file, unpack and run it.

In "Tech Support Forum Hardware Reader" >> click "Copy to clipboard" >> paste the info in your post.

Try to test the connection. Is this HDD sata or IDE? Some old sata cables designs had a bad connection sometimes - touching them, pulling in and out - made them work good.
