Newly installed HD not showing up under "My Computer"

I just installed a 320gb western digital IDE hard drive. I have two other WD 80gig hard drives that are set up as Primary slave and secondary master. The 320gig is setup as secondary slave. I know it's kind of a dumb way of having it set up but due to a cramped case and not wanting to spend several days transferring files I have to keep it this way.

Anyway on to my point. The new 320gig HDD is showing up in the BIOS and in the device manager but not under my computer, so there's no way of accessing it. Why would this be?

Do you have the jumpers set to slave or "cable select".

My System

Re: Newly installed HD not showing up under "My Computer"

hi, i just had the same problem a few hours ago, I was informed I had to initiate the drive and partition/format it.

I did this by start/run then typing cmd
then typing diskmgmt

your missing drive should show here, but as inactive. I right clicked mine and initiated it, then formatted it.

I hope you fare better than me however, as after this I transferred 10GB of files to the new drive and lost the lot :(
