[SOLVED] Re: Maxtor External HD G:\ Not Formatted!

Hi, I was googling around, trying to find a solution to this exact same problem, and I came across this site. (I instantly registered, of course, this is a site I will use regularly!) Anyway, I was wondering what I should do to solve this problem. Our Maxtor was "unsafely" removed, and has not been working properly since. And I have just built a new PC, so I backed up all the files from my old computer onto the external drive. Plus all our music and a most of my girlfriend's arts & crafts-files are on there, so formatting is NOT an option! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Maxtor External HD G:\ Not Formatted!

Welcome to TSF.

I have moved your post to this, new thread. We prefer it that way.

Try the steps here: Have you "lost" a hard drive, partition or files in your computer?

If that doesn't help:
Run TestDisk again, but follow these steps:

A. At the first window, select “No Log” and press the <Enter> key.
B. Select which drive to analyse, choose “Proceed” and <Enter>.
C. Select partition type – Intel if it’s a PC then <Enter>.
D. Choose Advanced > press <Enter>.
E. Choose Boot > press <Enter>.
New screen - please post back with a screenshot.
