Its been happening now for the past 2 month's, i havent installed any new hardware or anything that could cause this problem, iv been told it could be my harddrive but i would like a second opinion on whats wrong before i go ahead spending money on the problem.
My computer used to freeze on regular occasions on start-up..on start-up i mean when the windows xp logo appears and the blue colored bar travels across the screen.. If i could get onto the desktop..10 minutes of the PC being on it would either restart itself randomly OR Give me this Blue kernal screen the message it gave me was this : "KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. ***STOP : 0x0000007A (0xc02E6EFC, 0xc000000E, 0xB9BBFA13, 0x3023a860) ***Poartcls.sys - Address B9BBFA13 base at B9Ba5000, DATESTAMP 40574E49" All help would be grateful thanks!. |

Re: Kernal Bluescreen.
Welcome to TSF.
![]() Shouldn't it be Portcls.sys? If so, it's a problem with the sound driver. What motherboard do you have? If you don't know: Download the " TSFdemo1" file, unpack and run it. In "Tech Support Forum Hardware Reader" >> click "Copy to clipboard" >> paste the info in your post. Also: Attach a few mini dumps in zip format to your post. The dump files are located in \Windows\Minidump. If there are no minidumps: 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click System. 3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery. 4. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k). How to post an attachment. |

Re: Kernal Bluescreen.
Thanks.
All minidumps point at a file named csrss.exe - and memory corruption. Csrss.exe is a system file and should be located in \Windows\system32 - nowhere else. If you find csrss.exe anywhere else it's, most likely, malware. Having said that - scan your computer for virus/spyware. Also - run chkdsk: Right click the drive in "My computer" >> Properties >> Tools >> Check now. Tick both options and click "Start": ![]() |
