[SOLVED] Called Sony, Recovery discs no longer available. What now.
Need recovery discs to repair Sony Vaio. Called Sony, but discs are no longer sold for this 2006 model computer (VGC-RC210G). There is a recovery partition on this drive, but can't access it. Even if I can, I am almost certain that it has no .exe files. Only way that I knew how to access it was thru the Sony software that was once installed on this hard drive which is gone.
Now normally I would just put in a Windows Xp disk and boot off of it and install XP and be done with this computer. But when I do, when I get to where I pick a drive to install windows, it says UNKNOWN DISK-. It does not see the hard drives (sata). Needs sata drivers. Freakin damn computer does not have a floppy or even a place to plug in a floppy drive if I was to press f6 and install raid drivers upon istallation of XP. What do I do? Re: Called Sony, Recovery discs no longer available. What now.
the troubleshooting section says boot from floppy which would indicate they come with a floppy drive installed

Re: Called Sony, Recovery discs no longer available. What now.
I searched your model here and it doesn't appear that they have it, but there is a contact link at the left side that says they'll try to find it for you.
http://www.restoredisks.com/index.asp I have not used this service, but I did read about it from a satisfied customer at another forum some time ago. |

Some BIOS allow an Alternate method for SATA . . Go into the bios and check the "Sata Operation" setting, change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA
