Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
So, the scannings found a lot of "crap" = spyware, virus etc???
If so, the computer must be "cleaned" before we even think about fixing the other things. I'm not so sure you should connect the HDD to another computer if you have malware in your machine. Last edited by eneles : 05-08-2008 at 01:41 AM. |

Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
mostly it was just "tracking cookies" on ad-aware pro. nothing else found much. 1 trojan that was removed. i'm much more curious about all the things that couldn't be scanned b/c they were "locked" though that sane with the windows disc might have fixed that. i'm not really sure where to go from here.

Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
What anti-malware program(s) do you have running?
Try moving the wireless card to another slot. Replace the drive's USB cable. You can try a repair install of XP. Please read the instructions carefully. How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install. |

Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
The Windows installation is, IMHO, corrupt - strange chkdsk and sfc /scannow didn't find anything.
You should try a repair install. And - you have to try the other things mentioned as well: Another USB cable. Connect the drive to another computer. |

Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
ok well i tried it on my roommate's computer. other than taking forever, it read it as HDD but said it was unformatted and continued to say it was RAW format and was 0 bytes used, 0 bytes available.

Re: please help! XP changed my drive from FAT32 to RAW
don't know if this might help but AVG is showing these 4 files as viruses and i can't delete or repair them b/c they're being used by other processes:
qncogf76.dll tjtlyokj.dll ndtkvm44.dll kqthpthi.dll and also... lruiquij.sys ndtkvm44.sys qncogf76.sys skqudjbj.sys ukumzplk.sys cjptciai.dll cmicnfg.cpl some of those are drivers and could explain why USB is freaking out. Last edited by adam245 : 05-08-2008 at 07:01 PM. |
