was not listed under the software and I am unable to disable the

It has made the Disk Partitoin as free space.
I also wrote to the support from the software company but they did'nt reply to any of my mails.
Partiotion contains all of my crucial data . Please HELP
pc config is

Re: Partition hidden

Let me give you some tough love here. In your emails to the software company,
you need to be extremely specific, be very brief, and as clear as possible about
the problem.
They probably get a ton of email, and you need to make it as easy as you can on them.

I say that because reading your post, it's difficult to see what is exactly happening.

When you say the drive partition was not listed under the software, do you mean under
windows? Or under the program that you used to password protect the partition?

Which brings up the question, have you looked in "My Computer" to see if the partition
is showing up in there?
How about in disc management?
(right click my computer > manage > on the left side, click on Disk Management)

Re: Partition hidden

i sent them the actual problem and didnt wrote anythin stupid.
and as u asked its hidden under the software itself. and when a disk or partiotion is password protected its hidden in any OS and in any softwre.
it can only be disabled through that software but the sotware has got some problems and not showing that partiotion inside itself and now i cant disable it.
i think it can be disabled through some editing on hardware level of the disk. so I am asking for that..

Re: Partition hidden

well here is what i wrote to the software company and the actual problem:
I have just downloaded the demo version of
"Disk Password Protection v.4.8.930".
I ran it for the first time and enabled password protection
for 1 of my disk partiotion.
Till then everything was ok,but as I restarted my pc that partiotion
was not listed under the software(Disk Password Protection v.4.8.930).
I uninstalled and then reinstalled the software but for no avail.
I even tried connecting the drive to other pc but still the same
results.I am unable to restore the partiotion through system recovery.
My configuration is as follows:

OS- Windows XP SP2
intel p35 motherboard
320 gb seagate sata hdd having 5 windows partiotions(1 of them(80gb) has been
locked) and 2 linux partiotions.
"Disk Password Protection v.4.8.930"

I understand, but I thought if for some reason windows saw the partition, at least you would know it's still physically there and not deleted.

I haven't used that program, so I don't have any answers other than going deep into the program settings to see if there is an option for "show all partitions" or some such setting.

I hope you didn't cause yourself problems by deleting the program and reinstalling it..

Re: Partition hidden

you never did answer about disk management. Are you able to see the partition there?

right click my computer > manage > on the left side, click on Disk Management.

Re: Partition hidden

the disk partition is also hidden under disk management.
its being shown as free space and the software also not showing the
protected partition inside it so i am unable to disable the protection.
i even tried it to connect to other pc but its showing free space.
actually its not deleted but the software does so for every protected
partiotion and the protection can be disabled through the software.
But problem here is , the software isn't showing the partition itself and that's why i am unable to disable the protection.
any solution??

Well it doesn't sound like you deleted the partition, or that the program did either.

But about the email to the software company, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. What I was trying to point out to you is that your post was a bit hard to follow, so you need to do as good of a job contacting them as you can if you want this solved.

I would write it like this:
(Fill in the *** with the correct info)

I installed your program v.*** on my computer running Windows***

I then password protected a file.

I then rebooted, and was unable to find the file.

I uninstalled the program, and reinstalled it.

I still can't find the file that I password protected.

What should I do?

Re: Partition hidden

do you have anything important on the drive? If not, go back to manage, right click the drive on the bottom right, and see if you can format it.

Hello Mighty himm, Welcome to TSF!

This EXLADE program...does it allow you to Right click, and give the option to unhide?
If so, then, it would be just a matter of inserting your password, and Hey Presto..its visible!

Kind Regards,

My friend, it is no insult to you to suggest that you may not be using the most clear English when you contacted them.
From your posts, I am guessing that English is your second language.
Well it's my second language as well. I'm French Canadian, and i've been where you are before.
So it is only with the best intentions that I point out to you that since you have not received an answer from them yet, that perhaps there is a chance you didn't make the problem clear to them.

Re: Partition hidden

did you put your own password or use the default password .. have you made sure that caps lock is off when trying to enable the password.

Quote:
The unregistered version of the program has the following limitations:

A 30-day trial period. You can use the program absolutely free of charge for 30 days . After this period expires, it will become impossible to enable protection and you will be able only to disable protection that you previously enabled.

Only the password "demo" can be used when enabling protection or changing the password. The program blocks any attempts to use other passwords. The line with the hint is automatically filled in with a string explaining that the password "demo" of the unregistered version is set.
is this an unregistered version of the program ? did you perhaps buy or "borrow" a registration.
Borrowed registrations are frequently loaded with trojans and spyware , I hope you haven't been down that path .

Exlade faq
http://www.exlade.com/products/diskp...rotection/faq/

Quote:
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Q. I forgot the password. What should I do?
A. It is recommended to specify a hint when you enable boot protection or partition protection. It will help you to remember the password if you happen to forget it. If you do not do it, you can only erase the disk where boot protection is enabled or replace a protected partition with a new one. In this case, the information will be lost. If you forget the password for low-level protection, you will not be able to use the disk.

Q. I uninstalled the program, but the protection is still enabled.
A. The protection will not be disabled when the program is uninstalled. Protected disks and partitions do not depend on operating systems or any other factors; they will remain protected until the protection is disabled by the program itself.

Q. How can I enable low-level protection from Windows?
A. Low-level protection is available only in the genuine MS DOS mode. Start MS DOS from a CD, floppy or other bootable disk and run the program dppdos.exe.

Q. If I format the disk, will it disable boot protection?
A. No.

Q. What will happen if I enable partition protection for a partition where the operating system is installed?
A. You will not be able to load this operating system until the protection is disabled.

Q. I enter my password when I start the system. The system boots successfully but why don't I see the protected partitions?
A. You have both boot protection and partition protection enabled for some partitions on the disk. To access the protected partitions, you should disable the protection.

Q. I enabled low-level protection for my hard disk. After I restart my computer, nothing changes. What is the matter?
A. To enable/disable this type of protection, you may need to turn the power off completely. That depends on your hardware.

Q. I enabled low-level protection for my only hard disk. Now I cannot boot my computer. How can I start the system? How can I disable the protection?
A. Old motherboards (i.e. BIOS) do not recognize protected disks during the booting process and therefore do not require a password for access. To start the system, you will have to disable the protection using DPP 4.0 (the MS-DOS mode). To do it, you have the opportunity to boot the computer from other devices (hard disks, floppies, CD-ROM) and have the program on other media
did you place password protection from DOS or WINDOWS

Re: Partition hidden

I think the problem is knowing EXACTLY what steps you made .. what you may have inadvertently done wrong etc ..

Re: [SOLVED] Partition hidden

So.. Finally I came up with the solution..
And the solution is "Active Partition Recovery Enterprise"..
It recoverd the partition and all of its contents.
I got each and every file on the lost partiotion.
A great utility for the sort of problem I had.

Re: [SOLVED] Partition hidden

Congratulations .. and thanks for sharing

Sorry I just never got enough time to try the program on a spare disk .. and I suggest that next time you want to "experiment" do it on a spare drive or one that you don't mind losing should things go belly up ..

a lesson with a double edge here .. back up your files, experiment on non-essential areas of your PC and the usefulness of recovery software

I might alos add though that whilst we are our own worst enemies ... only we know what we have done when things go wrong and quite frequently we are the only ones to get ourselves out of the thick brown stuff afterwards.

I'm really happy you found a solution and thanks again for sharing that solution with us ..
