Installing A New Hard Drive on a Vaio Laptop
Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this forum. So if this question was already asked, I apologize. The reason I'm writing is because I need to install a new hard drive on my Vaio PCG-K33 laptop. The reason is because my existing hard drive has many many bad blocks on it. Therefore, I am unable to use any external devices with it. I already bought a new Toshiba 120 GB hard drive. My data has already been saved online. And I would like to partition the new drive, and install the Ubuntu OS. I would take it to someplace in Manhattan. But I've called several places, but I didn't get a good feeling from the people answering the phone. So can you guys recommend a good online tutorial for doing this? Thank you very much. |

Re: Installing A New Hard Drive on a Vaio Laptop
lisar915,
It's really not that difficult to install a laptop hard drive. You basically need to locate and remove the existing hard drive (usually under a screwed-in plastic panel on the bottom of the laptop), then simply replace the new drive where the old drive was. There may be mounting screws and there is usually some type of ribbon cable between the laptop & PC. Be sure that you have a restore DVD or CD to reinstall the original factory OS and apps that came with the PC. Check out: http://www.fonerbooks.com/laptop_9.htm Hope this helps. - John |
