external hd to internal problems

Hi,

I removed a maxtor 160gb hd out of its external case and mounted it in my dell. I have it set to slave and pluged in using the spare connectors providied. When i boot my pc my pc runs really slow and it sounds like one of the hd's is thiniking alot. When i can finally get into explorer to access the drive(which is listed- local disk D:) that once was the external i get a D:/ not accessible, error performing inpage operation. Any ideas??

Hi

Replace the ribbon cable.
Check the jumper on the other HDD - make sure it's set to master, not cable select.
