Weird problem IDE

I have a weird issue with my HDD.

I had taken my HDD out of an older HP Pavilion and put it into a new computer. Then when I took it back out to place it in the old HP, the HP cannot find it.

I tried checking the IDE cable connections...I even tried both IDE sockets and two different IDE cables but it will not be detected in bios.

The weird thing is that the computer finds a CD Rom drive using the same cables and on both IDE sockets.

I know the HDD functions since it was just in my other computer.....any ideas? I don`t think there is an issue with jumper settings.

Re: Weird problem IDE

did you change the jumper to get it to work when you first moved it
if it's the only drive on the cable put it on the end plug with the jumper in the master position

Also, what is the brand name of the drive and what else is on that ribbon cable?
