simpletech external harddrive help!

I've been using the simpletech 500gb external hard drive for about 3-4 months now. It's been working awesomely until just recently. Now whenever I turn it on it doesn't seem to show up. The computer makes the noise that something was plugged in, then it makes a very fast double noise. I look under my computer and nothing is there. So I decide to restart my computer seeing if that would somehow work. My Hard drive is usually drive H but this time it showed a drive F. Double click drive F and it said nothing is plugged in. I have a lot of files I have on here and would love to not lose them. Any suggestions?

Have you checked devices to see if three is a a problem with the driver?
Tried a different usb port?
