why wont a wd passport 250gb
work with vista and it trys to intsall drivers but cant find them aintr it plug in play

Are you using the USB interface? Is it USB2?
Check your BIOS Setup and ensure USB is enabled and it is USB2. Boot to Vista, use Device Manager and see if USB2 Vista drivers are installed, assuming your BIOS is setup correctly.
