WD MyBook World Edition Write Protected

Hi Guys

I bought a WD 500GB MyBook World Edition NAS Drive.
After installation I started experiencing that the drive becomes write protected after copying approx. 1GD.
I can still access all files (read only). The only way to copy/delete files again is by re-booting the drive.

Customer Service from WD suggested to update Firmware, passed my complained onto the WD R&D department and said at the end it might be a hardware issue and to exchange the drive under warranty.

Yesterday I got a new drive and what a surprise the new drive still becomes write protected after copying approx. 1 GB.

Re: WD MyBook World Edition Write Protected

I have Exactly the same problem - all folders become write protected, rebooting does not help for me - only solution is to reset drive to factory condition! Damn annoying. Have you found a solution?
