Memory Stick Photos Lost

I have lost about 200 photos on my 1 GB Memory Stick. I have tried recovering the photos with testdisk, photorec and getdataback.

I have followed eneles' instructions in the thread "[SOLVED] External HD not formatted all of a sudden". My problem is similar, however, after I complete step D, my only choice is Quit because "No partition available."

I have also followed eneles' instructions in the thread "Have you "lost" a hard drive or partition in your computer?". After completing step D, I get a message "Partition: Read error". I can continue and after step G, I get a message "No partition found or selected for recovery", I can do a "Deeper search". I can't get to step H.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Memory Stick Photos Lost

Welcome to TSF.

Run TestDisk again, but follow these steps:

A. At the first window, select “No Log” and press the <Enter> key.
B. Select which drive to analyse, choose “Proceed” and <Enter>.
C. Select partition type – Intel if it’s a PC then <Enter>.
D. Choose Advanced > press <Enter>.
E. Choose Boot > press <Enter>.
New screen - please post back with a screenshot.

How to post a screenshot.

Also - post a screenshot of Disk management with the USB stick connected.
(Right click "My computer" > choose "Manage" > Disk Management)

Re: Memory Stick Photos Lost

Do you remember what file system the drive was formatted with?
FAT or NTFS?

Re: Memory Stick Photos Lost

I am not sure which format...I believe that it was formatted by the camera. If it wasn't formatted by the camera, it would have been formatted with Windows XP.

Re: Memory Stick Photos Lost

I hate to say this, but I think the drive and your pictures are lost if not even GetDataBack can find the files.
Did you try GDB for FAT and NTFS?
