Problems with Raid 0 after upgrading to Vista!
Ok a have i big problem which i dont know how to solve. I've been using a Western Digital 160gb disk as a system partition (c:\)and 2 segate baracuda 250 gb each connected into a raid 0 partition(e:\). i've been using windows xp home edition for the last 2 years and everything was o.k. Raid worked like a charm.
2 days ago i finally decided to upgrade to vista home premium 64bit. because my system disk was 80 % full i moved all my important data to the raid partition and decided to format C:\ drive during vista instalation in order to improve future performance. when the installation was over i updated the system via windows update and installed all drivers (including nvidia raid drivers for my motherboard). But then i realized that the raid partition was no longer there and in disk management it standed as a dynamic disk wich was offline. the only option i could choose was to convert it to basic disk but then i would loose all my data which I moved from c:\. i reinstalled xp home edition and the problem is still there. it is a dynamic offline disk which i cant access. What can i do to save my data ?? |

Re: Problems with Raid 0 after upgrading to Vista!
Welcome to TSF!
Did you install the RAID driver in VISTA? Go to the Device manager any check for and yellow marks.

as far as drivers are concerned i installed all drivers necessary through windows update and through the manufacturers site aswell. apart from that if it was a driver problem it would vanish after I installed xp back again with the previous drivers. Vista somehow changed the raid partition to a dynamic disk which isnt supported in home edition in both xp and vista. the question is why it did this and how can i access this partition in order to copy my files ?? |

Re: Problems with Raid 0 after upgrading to Vista!
When you look in the Device manager are the "SCSI and RAID controllers" entry free of yellow marks? Typically RAID drivers are not installed with the typical mother board CD or windows update.
